The goalie's equipment is the most important aspect of the position. It is critical that the goalie feels protected from injury. He/she must be comfortable enough to throw themselves in front of the puck under the most extreme situations. Any hesitation can cause a goal or injury. Equipment must also fit properly in order to allow movement. Today's equipment is a lot lighter and made of materials which allow for smaller equipment but better protection. Proper care of your equipment will allow for a few years of use.

When equipment starts to get small it is important to size up in equipment.

One bad shot or injury can end his/her career or put a fear in a goalie that could take years to destroy. If your child is committed to goaltending, then I feel that as a parent it is our duty to equipe him/her the best we can. This does not mean to go out and buy new gear.
